About

[vc_row el_class=”wrap “][vc_column][bethlehem_title text_position=”text-center” heading_size=”h1″ title=”What to expect when you visit in person?” el_class=”about-us-page-title”][vc_column_text]We certainly hope that when you walk through the door you will be warmly greeted by one of our ushers. They are there to help point you in the right direction. Coatroom? Restroom? Classrooms? Sanctuary? …they know where everything is so just ask them.

Did the kids come with you? We’ve got rooms and staff that are kid friendly. We’ll show you where they are. And don’t worry. If your child needs you we’ll let you know so that you can go to them. It’s great to let kids be with other kids. It’s good for them and it’s good for you. It gives you the opportunity to relax a bit and enjoy the service little more.

Don’t forget to take home that bulletin you’ll be handed. Its got important information in it about events and opportunities. Then slip into service and sit where you want. You’ll notice that there are large screens showing announcements and words to the songs we song. Sing along if you would like to or just enjoy the music.

Need a Bible? The rack at your seat has one that you can use while you’re with us. Want a Bible of your own to take home with you? Just ask. We’ve got some special bibles set aside for people who request one.

At some point in the service opportunity will be given for people to greet each other. Somebody’s bound to shake your hand and say hello. You probably won’t remember their name, but hopefully you’ll remember their smiles.

Time to go home? Don’t forget to collect your things and the kids too. Talk as a family about your visit. We hope you enjoyed it. You’re always welcome back![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row 0=””][vc_column 0=””][bethlehem_banner type=”type-1″ banner_link=”#” banner_link_target=”_self” banner_hover_animation=”bounce” banner_text_position=”text-center” banner_image=”1758″ title=”THIS IS OUR STORY” subtitle=”So you get to know us better”][/bethlehem_banner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”wrap “][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”222″ img_size=”573×218″][bethlehem_title text_position=”text-left” heading_size=”h3″ title=”About Evangel Chapel”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1493844018256{margin-top: 30px !important;}”]

Evangel Chapel began in 1951 as a response to people in the community who had a hunger for the Pentecostal message an ministry. Originally known as Somerville Assembly of God, the name was changed when the church relocated a few miles down the road from it’s original site to it’s current one.   Over the years, the face of the building and the faces of those attending have changed.  As our numbers grew our need for a larger building, a larger vision and a larger staff also grew.   Evangel’s main campus is in Bridgewater, NJ, and we have a second campus in Clinton, NJ.  We also have a Spanish service that meets on Sunday afternoons at our Bridgewater campus.  Evangel supports missionaries and outreaches down the street and all around the world.  We’ve also helped several other churches to get started and grow.  Over the years five pastors have led our congregation and ministry.  Our current pastor has been leading the way since 1987.
Evangel has a rich history of preaching the gospel, loving people and making a difference.  We hope you’ll visit soon and come back often.  We’d love to become the place where you and your family connect with God, grow in grace and make life-long friends.

It’s difficult to sum up what we believe into a few dozen words, but I can tell you this: we believe in God, we believe that He loves us and has a wonderful plan for our lives, we believe that the Bible is a road map to help point us and keep us going in the right direction, we believe that the Christian life is the best way to live and that God’s Spirit will help us to live that life, and we believe that God has great things planned for those who love Him when their life on earth is over.

We certainly don’t claim to have all the answers but we know the One who does, and He has promised to help us find them.

As part of the Assemblies of God, Evangel Chapel is a church that acknowledges the presence and power of God’s Spirit at work in today’s world.  We believe that miracles are still possible and that spiritual gifts are still available. Our worship is engaging, our preaching is relevant, our mission is exciting, and our invitation for you to join us is sincere.

Appreciating the pattern of so many other good Evangelical churches we are guided by the following principle as we serve the Lord together:

In essentials………..Unity
In non-essentials….Liberty
In all things…………LoveIf you would like to see a full list of the things we believe please feel free to visit www.ag.org and click on the tab labeled “Beliefs”.
